The previous two years we finished out our trip with a night in Yellowstone; we really loved walking around Upper Geyser Basin to see all the different geysers. Even though Yellowstone was out of our way this year (we flew in and out of Idaho Falls instead of Billings), we still wanted to finish our trip with the geysers. We managed to snag a budget cabin at Old Faithful Lodge and spent a day wandering among the geysers and steaming pools. I also dragged myself out of bed for a nighttime Old Faithful eruption and to watch sunrise the next morning. It was really neat to see all the steam in the basin in the early morning. Yellowstone always delivers - it was a perfect way to end our western adventure!
