Windham High Peak, Catskills May '14

We had a gorgeous spring day (finally!) to hike Windham High Peak in the Catskills. Steve had driven up early to the Catskills for a twenty mile trail run starting from Big Hollow Road. Norah and I picked him up in the late morning, then drove to the trailhead on Peck Road (we would end our hike at his car). The one way hike over Windham and Burnt Knob was seven miles and about 1700 feet elevation gain. The trees were still bare, but spring was on the ground. I had never seen so many flowers on a Catskills hike before. We saw mostly trout lilies, trillium, and spring beauties, which were incredibly abundant. There are many nice viewpoints along this trail and the trail is pretty easy going for a Catskills hike. Great day!
