On Saturday, June 17, 2006, myself (VFTT - Halfmoon), my wife Kathy (VFTT - Pudgy Groundhog), and friend Brad (VFTT - Bob Terwiliger) set out with many other VFTT'ers to traverse the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Presidential Traverse was in an effort to raise money for the Brain Tumor Society. The full Presidential Traverse covers no less than 20 miles, and gains and loses approximately 8,500 feet in elevation. The route summits all the mountains in the Presidential Range, and often includes other non-Presidential peaks along the way. Our route followed the Brookside and Watson Paths from the Appalachia Trailhead on NH 302 over Mt. Madison ==> Mount Adams ==> Mount Jefferson ==> Mount Clay (not a Presidential) ==> Mount Washington ==> Mount Monroe ==> Mount Franklin (not a Presidential) ==> Mount Eisenhower ==> and Mount Pierce, ending at Crawford Notch. Our group's total walk time was a hair over 10 hours, and total trip time was a hair over 13 hours, which included a hot dog break on Mount Washington.
