After a lunch break at the ice fall we hiked down the remaining distance to the landing area for our pick up by a ski plane. Lisa asked if we could get a fly by of Mt. Cook on the way back and the pilot obliged and treated us to a scenic flight. The wind was so calm that we were able to get pretty close to the great divide and could see climbers on Mt. Cook. Seeing the glaciers, valley, and peaks from the air was a different perspective and we could clearly see how rugged the terrain was.
