On our second day in Jasper the forecast looked more reasonable and we were hoping to hike Bald Hills. It rained overnight and I was dismayed that it was still raining when we woke up. We went to the Other Paw Bakery and Cafe for breakfast and decided to head to Maligne Lake anyway, keeping our fingers crossed that the weather would improve. On the way we stopped to walk through Maligne Canyon, a scenic limestone gorge. It is possible to do a longer hike here (it is 3.7 km/2.3 miles from the Sixth Bridge Picnic Area to the Maligne Canyon Parking area), but we opted for a quick jaunt around the main part of the canyon.
