Big Sandy Lodge consists of a main lodge and ten cabins situated by Mud Lake. There is a large beaver dam at the southern end of the lake. I overheard somebody saying at times the dam wasn't letting enough water outflow from the lake to water the horses. The workers would tear down part of the dam to let more water out, just to find it patched up in the morning (repeat, repeat, repeat).
Ringing of the dinner bell signaled it was time to eat in the main lodge. Dinner was served family style and we had ham, potatoes, green beans, bread, and cake with strawberries for dessert. Hit the spot!
After dinner we hung around the lake watching the various birds flit about the trees and the beaver taking an evening swim. Laturio Mountain is the prominent mountain in the background.
