From Forcella Averau we had a traverse under the crumbling southern wall of Monte Averau. Rounding the bend, Rifugio Averau came into view. The rifugio was closed while they made repairs and prepared the hut for the winter season. We proceeded to climb the last 150m ascent (500 feet) up Monte Nuvolau to the rifugio perched on top. The views were stunning and we took many pictures. This one shows the view from Averau on the left to Tofane di Rozes on the right. Cinque Torri are the small rock spires in the right foreground. The mountains in the distance to the left of Tofana are the Fanes group.
