On our last day in Maine we hit the Appalachian Trail to hike the Baldplates. The trail lures you in - it's pretty mild until the last third or so then it is steep, wet, rocky, rooty (in other words, typical Northeast trail). Worth the haul though. We took a quick break on the west summit before continuing to the higher east summit. Round trip is about eight miles.
