An unusually large Joshua tree

One of the larger Joshua Trees we saw. The Joshua tree is actually a member of the lily family and filled with pulp with no growth rings, so dating the trees is hard. Our book said that trees over 30 feet in height are thought to be several hundred years old. After a growth spurt in the first five years, the Joshua tree grows less than one inch per year.
