This is the summit marker for Katahdin, which is the northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Steve did not see anyone on the hike up, nor while he was on the summit. It was nice to have such a popular and beautiful summit all to yourself. On the descent, there were ALOT of people hiking up, owing to a beautiful autumn day. One individual Steve talked to indicated this would be his 382nd ascent of Katahdin. After we got home we googled this fact, and indeed to Bangor newspaper had an article on the gentleman.
