We had a few days in Montana before our camper was installed and spent them in Helena and Bozeman. It was our first time to this area and we thought they were great cities. We had one full day in Helena and kicked it off with a wonderful morning at Hauser Lake with friends. We did some stand up paddleboarding (first time for Norah and me - we liked it!) and lounged by the lakeside, catching up and enjoying the morning. Norah and I checked out downtown Helena in the afternoon. Cute downtown and we found the perfect sticker for 2020 at the charming Montana Book Company. We of course had to try the ice cream at Big Dipper and Norah was thrilled to find the Funky Trunk consignment shop. We met back up in the evening for homemade rhubarb cake and a sunset walk around Bompart Hill.
We had two full days in Bozeman and on our first day we connected with a friend and spent the day gabbing, having a picnic in the park with takeout from Roost Fried Chicken, and browsing the stores downtown. The next morning Norah and I started our day with the short and steep hike to the “M”. Fun little hike. In the afternoon we hit up Goodwill and saw the excellent dinosaur exhibit at the Museum of the Rockies. We finished our day with a tasty dinner on the patio at Montana Ale Works and did some more browsing downtown.
Our final day in Bozeman was camper installation day. We dropped off the truck and spent the day doing errands and finding a few more thrift stores. We picked up our new truck & camper in the afternoon and spent our first night in the camper at Langohr Campground in Hyalite Canyon. We’re ready to roll!
