Washington DC 2012

We've really enjoyed our past visits to Washington DC so decided to return this year for the long Thanksgiving weekend. In the past we've stayed in DC proper, but decided to seek alternative lodging this year as paying $45 for overnight parking was hard to stomach. We ended up at the Holiday Inn in Rosslyn by the Key Bridge. Although the reasonable rates, free parking, and easy access to the Metro were very attractive, I wasn't sure what I'd think about the location compared to previous years. We ended up really liking the location and had no problems getting around to our destinations. Our final activity roster:

Thursday (Thanksgiving): Botanical Gardens, lunch at Mitsitam Cafe at the Museum of the American Indian, Museum of Natural History, dinner at Rasika
Friday: breakfast at the Silver Diner, National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, walk across they Key Bridge into Georgetown, dinner at Moby Dick's House of Kabob, cupcakes at Baked and Wired, Iwo Jima Memorial at night
Saturday: Port Discovery (children's museum) in Baltimore, lunch at Miss Shirley's, dinner at Super Pollo (Peruvian chicken joint)
Sunday: Iwo Jima Memorial at sunrise, lunch with Graham and Lena in Olney, back home
