Buttermilk Falls State Park

We spent our morning at Robert Treman State Park and after a picnic lunch we drove the short distance to Buttermilk Falls State Park. We parked at the upper entrance and hiked downstream 0.65 miles on the Gorge Trail to Buttermilk Falls (reverse the hike if you want to do the harder part first). Buttermilk Falls is a 165 foot waterfall with a dammed swimming area at the bottom (not open when we were there). The falls does not have a dramatic drop; the water meanders down a multi-stepped rock formation. It's a pretty waterfall, but I didn't manage a picture as it was full sun. I really enjoyed the hike on the Gorge Trail; it was more narrow and dramatic than the trail at Robert Treman State Park. There were multiple small waterfall and cascades, although I don't know their names. It was a fun trail for pictures and exploration.
