North Face Endurance Challenge * Bear Mountain * May 5, 2012

On May 5, 2012, Steve participated in the North Face Endurance Challenge at Bear Mountain. The race was fifty miles (yes, 50!) with 14,000 feet elevation change. Not only were the miles and elevation tough, the course was very technical with lots of mud, rocks, and tree roots. Hampered early on by leg cramps, Steve rolled into the Camp Lanowa aid station (mile 27.7) behind schedule and looking pretty beat up (and apparently very sweaty, Norah was reluctant to give him a hug). He pushed to make the second hard cut off at mile 34.2, then somehow everything clicked and the last 15.8 miles flew on by. A tired, but successful Steve crossed the finish line at
