This is the day of crossing Sangda La (c.a. 5570m) - the last of the high passes on this trekking route (there are actually two passes 5000+ close by). The ascent route to the pass, and the pass itself, are visible on the left.


There is an alternative trail to Sangda from here: a footpath along the river flowing in a canyon beginning somewhere between the dark rocky peaks to the left and the white snowy peaks to the right. The footpath is rather difficult and dangerous; it is known to local people, but not so much to the trekkers as the river is not marked on any map. In fact, even looking at the latest (printed) maps available it is difficult to guess there is any possibility of a river and footpath there.
