Any day you see dolphins is a good day. Long road trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound, but worth the trip through the temperate rainforest. The cruise on the sound was very cool: lots of waterfalls, very steep cliffs (the mountains are 1000-2000m high, but don't look it), fur seals, and, of course, dolphins. They came alongside and played by the boat as we went, which is always fun to see.
