Remembering.

More of a documentary photo than I normally do. This was the site of Montréal's 7th murder of the year (in the park across the street from my building). Someone has placed these flowers along with a few items (and no one has taken the beer!).

Events like this always make me sympathize with the victim and their friends and family, and realize that nothing is for sure, even in one of the safest places in the world. On the up-side, this is one of the safest places in the world: this is Canada's second-largest city, and it is halfway through the year, and we are still only up to 7. I'd definitely prefer 0, but it could be a lot worse. I wish we would remember just how fortunate we are more often.

Things like this and other violence related crimes seem to shake us all and bring home to us just how vulnerable we are in this world.Hope this tribute brings some solace to the victim,s relatives an friends.Your words and photo are a tribute on their own and an acknowledgement of the suffering of others.V

Beautiful light and colors in this somber tribute. I'm glad people remember the victims. V.

A very moving image ! I heard again this morning on the radio that the world is safer and safer (compare to the other ages) but it is hard to believe when we listen to everyday news. V.
