This is a backlit glass -- I was actually trying to capture the meniscus and the effect of the surface tension at the edge of the glass, but I failed miserably at that. On the other hand, when I looked at the images later, I decided I liked the abstract effects of seeing the umbrella structure, and the appearance of a second glass inside the first (which is only an illusion of the refraction). Amazing what can sometimes come from failures ;)
