Rundale palace is the greatest barocco - rococco style palace in Latvia and Baltic states. It was once one of the two main palaces of the Dutchy of Kurland (Kurzeme). It was designed by Italian architect Rastrelli, the same guy who designed the Winter palace in Saint-Petersburg. The palace was built from 1735 until 1770. It was vandalised during both world wars, but is being reconstructed since 1972.
