Myles, the men here, including the owner of the tree, are lumberjacks, and this is how they cut trees in the forest where they work. The idea is to get long boards from it, so they cut once at the bottom and knock it over, then remove the branches. Makes sense and obviously works, so what may look "unsafe" to you is what these guys do safely all day on their job.

As for the humor, I didn't intend any humor when I shot the moment. Just glad I caught it at this critical point (old manual camera...30 year old pic). Later I noticed the STOP sign and that was a nice surprise since it added humor of its own.

Something handled this dangerously doesn't amuse me, although the colors are glorious.I see what the other guest meant. Not in the same league as your other shots.

Amazing shot! I'm sure they'll miss that lovely tree.

Guest, you're kidding, right? LOL! Hardly "contrived" for a photo op! Self-conscious? Don't know what you mean by that, but the folks doing this certainly were conscious of only one thing...getting that tree to fall safely AWAY from them! :)

It looks a bit too contrived and self - conscious.
