I am just totally blown away with your talent. It kind of makes my pictures look so bland and boring. I'm going to look into getting Photoshop and Painter programs and start working at this. I can't imagine ever having your skills but I just love the effects. - Karsten

Thank you. I use Photoshop for retouching, and Painter for painting photos. This was done with Photoshop, and while I don't have a book, I do have a tutorial on coloring black and white photos that uses this one as an example, giving detailed steps. It's on my photo/art/retouching site athttp://www.innographx.com The exact link is here:http://www.innographx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1788 There are links to two related tutes at the bottom of this tute. If you register at the Inn, as we call the site, you can practice and get advice from many expert retouchers. Hope you will stop by and check us out.

You really should consider publishing a book explaining your techniques with painter and show all these pictures and offer step by step instructions. I know I and many others appreciate you sharing information. I try to do the same thing with my photography...to help others achieve satisfaction with their photography. Just looking at yours gives me hope... that one day...I'll be able to edit photos and fix them up like you do.

Thanks for the compliment. Actually it didn't take very long at all. The skin takes the longest since you have to add so many different colors. See the links in my reply near the bottom of this page to find out how to do this yourself.

This colorizing must take *forever* to do.

I wish I had your patience and skill.

Phyllis,

I cannot believe my eyes...
It's like how they make an old b&w movie
become colors again...amazing.

Thanks for sharing!

This is so impressive... I'd love to hear how you do this... pretty amazing job. I touch up a lot of photos but I've never tried to do a full painting of a monochrome.
