In the summer of 2004, I volunteered for a research project in Denmark with Red Kites and Barn Owls. The goal of the study was to look at the levels of different contaminants in the birds such as rodenticides and heavy metals. I climbed extremely tall trees (sometimes up to 60 feet) to capture Red Kite nestlings and assisted with banding and holding the kites and owls while blood samples were taken. |
