Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven

Located in southern Beijing, the Temple of Heaven was built in 1420, during the reign of Emperor Yongle. Covering an area of 2,730,000m2, it was the site on which emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties offered scarifices to the Heaven, prayed for rain and a good harvest.

The Temple of Heaven is the largest existing scarificial temple in China. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is the main building of the Temple of Heaven complex. In 1998, the UNESCO listed the Temple of Heaven as part of the world cultural heritage.
