Our ship arrived and docked in Istanbul in a very early morning. Turkey today is a lively nation of 79 million citizens, 98% muslims and 2% Christians/others. The driving force of the tourist dollars make a difference in tolerance to people of Christian beliefs specially in Istanbul and other cities promoting tourism. Turkey can not ignore her income in tourism because of her richness in historical artifacts, she even preserved the Basilica of St. Sofia (Hagia Sofia)and exposed the icons venerated by Christians.

The ancient city of Ephesus is something to behold inspite of only having 15% of the site as being presently unearthed. It will be a generation or more to fully see and enjoy the city in its past splendor.

Turkey's present experiment with her 'Freedom of Religion' is welcome and appreciated by the international community. If successful, this will spearhead the peaceful coexistance between muslims and the 'infidels'.
