While there is usually enough snow in the higher hills for snowmobiling into late April, the Parks Dept. quits grooming the 350+ miles of trails in the Black Hills on March 15th. The barricades are removed that prevent "wheeled traffic" from using the trails and we can start to get back into the Black Hills backroads. However the packed snowmobile trails are treacherous untill almst completely melted...I know, I've been gotten stuck many times over the years...but all in all another sign that Spring is getting closer.
