Northern Flicker

Attracted to one of our suet feeders, this is a medium sized woodpecker. I believe this is a
male since it has a black moustache. Unlike most other woodpeckers, Northern Flickers
feed on the ground, pecking the dirt for ants and beetles with characteristic
jackhammer rapidity. While most woodpeckers have straight beaks, the
Northern Flicker’s beak evolved slightly curved for
excavating insects from the soil.

Yes, Boeing screwed up big time. The problem started from the top.

Excellent portrait capture! Love the telephoto
bokeh and hint of red creating on his neck.
