Marbled Leafwing

Scientific name: Hypna clytemnestra

I have never seen one of these before, as I believe they have been newly introduced into the Butterfly Garden.
They are also known as the jazzy leafwing or the silver-studded leafwing. Notice the prominent
proboscis (tongue). The cryptic underside pattern resembles a dead withered leaf. Other
leafwings also resemble leaves. See, for example, my December, 2007 photograph
of a scarlet leafwing:

Pas facile de mettre en évidence les jolis motifs foncés de ce papillon, une très belle réussite! V

It’s wings do resemble a dead leaf. Superbly photographed, Jay.

It does look like leaf litter, Jay. Great shot.
