The Brevard Zoo is located on the east coast of Florida in the city of Melbourne about 70 miles east of Orlando. The zoo contains more than 550 animals representing 165 species from North and South America as well as Australia and Africa. It is one of a very small number of zoos that allows visitors to hand-feed giraffes at giraffe eye-level. Although it is not an extensively large zoo, we were impressed with its organization and beauty. We were pleasantly surprised to have discovered it and would recommend it highly to anyone visiting central Florida.
