Alexandria celebrates its birthday, as well as the country's, on the weekend after the Fourth of July. This year it is Alexandria's 259th and the country's 232nd birthdays. The celebration began with selections from the Vaughn Ambrose Jazz Quartet and ended with fireworks on the Potomac River. Vaughn Ambrose is an nationally-recognized and award-winning music teacher in the Alexandria school system, and was our son's music teacher and Band Director from the 6 grade through his senior year.
