There are very few snowy owls in central Alberta. This is the first one that has shown up in our area on December 28/06.Found the second one on January 02/07. The male snowy owl is almost white. It takes a male four years to become white. The breeding season is from mid May to mid September. The female lays two batches of eggs two days apart. About six or seven eggs are layed. The first one to hatch may be two weeks old before the last one hatches. Strange but a male my have two female mates at a time.There food is mice, lemmings, rabbits to gulls, jaegers,eiders. They have been know to kill weasel and fox. Going For 100 photos of them.
