Happy Ending

Wetaskiwin, Alberta

I was sitting watching the geese around me when a Atco Gas Truck pulled up. The two walked up to me and one said," I don't know if this is the right thing to do" but I can't think of anything better. He opened his coat and and had three goslings just hatched. He told me he was driving along the main hi-way and the mother goose darted across and he hit her. Killing the mother, they chased down the baby geese and brought them to the park. They turn them loose on the lake. They went up to the other geese. The big geese got agressive and almost killed the small ones. The baby geese just went and hid in the tall cat-tails. You could hear them beeping for there Mother. Wasn't very nice. We came back later and the small three were about 50 yards from shore. No other geese showed any interest. Came back the next day and they were gone..I thought the hawks got them. The next day to my surpise another pair of geese took them on and now are looking after them..It made my day.

What a wonderfully happy story. And, look at those babies, staying close to their adopted parents.
