Handhills Lake 96th Consecutive Stampede "Rodeo" June 2012 - 50+ photos

This is the third time I have attended this rodeo,although it is certainly not the first time this event has been held.Hand Hills is the longest running consecutive years rodeo I believe in Canada,starting in 1917 as a fundraiser for the Red Cross.95 years later,this CPRA and PRCA sanctioned rodeo is stronger than ever.Stock is provided by the Calgary Stampede Ranch so you are seeing top notch horses and bulls. It is without a doubt my favorite place to watch a rodeo.. The people are so friendly and go out of there way. Cowboy breakfast, Angus beef on a bun with trimmings for supper, homemade pies and beer garden and dance that night... Will be there next year. It makes a long day, 3 hours there, 3 hours back and 8 hours at the rodeo... but a great time to be had...

Absolutely incredible pictures Ron. incredible expressions on both the livestock and humans. Love the "bullfighter' .. leaves you wondering what happened and if the rider had his comeupance!
