An antique, 19th Century tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting within a highly stylised
mountainous landscape and encircling clouds is a wrathful Mahasiddha belonging to the retinue of Padmasambhava
(Guru Rinpoche). On his lotus throne he flies through the mountains, brandishing a dorje and a purbha. He is dressed
in the robes of a lama, with a sturdy pair of blue boots to carry him through whatever landscape he must travel
to proclaim and protect the dharma. Mahasiddhas in the retinue of Padmasambhava are able to penetrate mountains,
transform stones and swim unharmed through the stormy seas. 9 x 11.3cm
