sl1600_68.jpg

An antique Tibetan tsakli painting, 19th Century or earlier depicting a throne, a peaceful deity standing upon a lotus base, holding a golden bhumpa or treasure vase in his left hand, a spear (Tibetan: shag ti) with a fly whisk finial in his in his right hand, indicating. he may be one of the 'treasure guarding spirit kings'. The sharp point of the spear symbolisies the piercing or impaling of all false notions and distorted views. He wears a high chignon, his hair held back by a diadem, the striped trousers of the Kham, a blue celestial scarf swirling about him, heavy earrings and two heavy necklaces and armlets and bracelets. 4 lines of Tibetan text to the reverse, with two affixing tabs, each bearing syllables.
