An antique 19th Century or earlier (much earlier) tsakli painting in glowing mineral pigments depicting
the Eight Auspicious Symbols - Astamangala or luck-bringing signs. They are the parasol which protects from the evils of desire; the cylindrical banner Dhvaja which symbolises the victory of Buddhism; the right spiralling conch which proclaims the words of the Buddha; the lotus borne (purity) bhumpa or vase which holds the treasury of all spiritual wealth and which also holds Amrita - the water elixir, which is topped by a jewel - norbu; the endless knot, Srivasta symbolising the endless cycle of rebirth; the paired fish representing beings being delievered from the ocean of misery and earthly existence; and the Wheel of the Law. 3 syllables in red Tibetan script to the lower edge of the reverse. 11.6 x 13.6
