An antique tsakli painting, Tibet, 19th Century depicting a hellish band of 7 dakini posturing Bardo
deities - all wearing the female leopard skin dhotis. Top left is a green bodied, wolf headed deity carrying a spear,
while to its rightis a saffron-bodied spotted leopard-headed deity carrying a 3 pronged spear, next is a black-bodied
boar-headed deity carrying a snare. Below rhem are a red bird-headed deity and a green-bodied elephant-headed
deity chatting happily as they fondle the small human corpses they carry in their hands. At the bottom are 2 green-
bodied deities - 1 with a snake head and carrying a serpent, while the other, with a bear-head, carries a bell. All are
wearing flayed human skins. The Bardo is the After-Death Realm and these are some of its inhabitants. The purpose
of such cards is to familiarise practitioners with these horrific creatures, so that when they encounter them,
they will not be afraid. 10.8 x 12.4cm
