An antique Tibetan tsakli painting, 19th Century or earlier depicting above a lotus throne, and within an elongated nimbus and a green mandorla, a cream bodied Buddha standing, playing a gold garuda headed 'pi wang' or lute, representing the musical offering of sound. The Buddha's face expresses his pleasure with the offering as he plucks the golden strings of the instrument. The Buddha wears a gold patterned red monastic robe (sangati) which hangs to his feet, a saffron coloured end draped over his shoulder and across his arm. 7.6 x 9cm
