An antique, 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting in mineral pigments and gold, depicting, within a gorgeous mountainous landscape with snowy peaks emerging from the clouds, with low hills strewn with precious jewels is depicted a graceful and elaborate Banner of Victory. On its pinnacle is a flaming '8 facetted' jewel. The small white canopy below the jewel is supprted by a gold crest-bar over which a white silk scarf - the kattha, is knotted and looped. Below the crest-bar hangs a double row of green pendants and below this a further drape of fluttering silk. The red shaft of the banner emerges from the pile of 11 'wish-fulfilling' jewels (norbu) and the swirling ends of the white scarf complete the Victory Banner's form. 1 line of text to the reverse. 11.1 x 9.7cm
