An antique 19th Century or earlier (much earlier!) tsakli painting, depicting within a burst of roiling flames, a dramatically expressed dark-skinned deity, riding on a wild blue yak. The deity wears an upturned brim red hat with a dorje knop which covers his abundant hair, which is held back at the brow but flows freely in the wind behind. He has extremely heavy, round earrings of 'gold' and wears multiple layers of clothing cinched at the waist with a wide red and green belt, a freely flowing celestial scarf, and red boots. He is seated on a tiger-skin saddle cloth, and brandishes a dorje-tipped axe in his right (battle) hand, his left holding a tiger skin scabbard. His face is alight with triumph as he effortlessly guides his mount through the firmament. 8.5 x 12.1cm
