An antique, 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting in vivid coloured mineral pigments depicting a golden offering bowl arising from a lotus. The bowl is filled - half with black mustard seed and half with white mustard seed. In Buddhism mustard seed is a wrathful substance used in destructive rites against negativities and hindrances, which arise as obstructive demons, and the seed is one of the main 'magical ingredients' used in ritual weapons against harmful spirits. 3 areas of text to reverse. 11.1 x 12.6cm
