An antique 19th Century or earlier (much earlier)Tibetan tsakli painting, depicting a torma, or offering to the wrathful deities such as Mahakala, Yamantaka or Vajrakilaya, as indicated by the red colouring of the body of the offering. The 'wings' to either side represent the lunar and solar channels, while the finial represents the crescent moon, sun and dissolving point or nada. A multicoloured dish representing elements such as earth, water and fire holds the torma, or ritual cake offering, usually made of barley flour and yak butter which is coloured and moulded by hand. They often incorporate medicinal substances, or the 25 Precious Ingredients. 11 lines of text in 2 hands , including a red illumination, to the reverse. 8.5 11.4cm
