02122006 getting better

Pooch: Well, friends, it hasn't been easy. A week ago I ate something interesting. Can't remember what it was, but it didn't agree with me at all. My tummy swelled up and hurt a LOT, and I felt very very sick. I didn't want to eat, which is unheard of for me.

I had to go to the nasty v*t and then Dad LEFT me there! They did all sorts of uncomfortable things and put me in a strange-smelling kennel surrounded by other sick and barking dogs. I didn't like it at all. But there were lots of people going to and fro and taking an interest in me, and
all of them had kind faces and gentle voices and hands. After a while, Dad came back for a brief visit and he brought my toy hippo with him. That's when I realised things weren't as bad as I thought and that I would be going home.

I came home a few days ago, and I slept and slept. Mum stayed with me and kept waking me up to give me nasty-tasting pills and medicines, and strange prescription food. I had to go back to the v*t for a visit, but I didn't have to stay there this time. Now I feel better. My tum doesn't hurt much anymore although I still feel a bit queasy and fragile and am still on several different kinds of medication. But I am enjoying life again, especially some fresh air and gentle walks with Dad.

Dad says all our pbase friends were very supportive while I was ill. It's good to have lots of friends. I am sorry to have worried you all!

Dad: he's feeling well enough to be interested in football again - http://www.pbase.com/poochdad/image/71073293 - but carefully does it, Pooch!
