10052006 rievaulx abbey

I kept Dad awake late last night by barking at a hedgehog in my garden and refusing
to be put to bed! I think Dad has forgiven me though because he took me to the
North York Moors today for a day out. It was very sunny and hot but there was a
brisk breeze blowing through this valley and plenty of shade in the nave of
this ruined abbey to cool down in!

(dad: parts of the abbey date back to the 12th century, see here for more info - http://www.theheritagetrail.co.uk/abbeys/rievaulx_abbey.htm )

Fantastic image! Wonderful framing.

What an interesting place too... It reminds me of the "Abbaye of Jumièges", in Normandie.

Pooch needs a cable tv show on the History Channel. 'Famous Places Pooch Takes a Wee'. I don't know what it says about me, but I wouldn't miss an episode.

Sniffing in the history of the place - & what a wonderful background
full of interesting creatures no doubt! You should all sleep very well
tonight!

Lovely photo with the sky showing through the arches. Pooch looks quite small in this place.
