19th February 2015

Dad: we have mixed news about Pooch. He was quite ill earlier in the week - so much so, that we thought he might have
had a stroke, and that it was finally curtains. But it turns out that the drug he was being given to treat the dermodex
had neuro-toxic side effects. He was taken off the drug immediately, and the side effects thankfully disappeared within 48 hours!
We've now tried two different dermodex treatments. The first was ineffective, and the second has had too severe side effects. So now
we're attempting a third treatment - weekly chemical baths at the veterinary hospital. They aren't cheap, and we're not sure
what happens if we simply run out of money. But we're keeping everything crossed that Pooch reacts well and defeats the
dermodex before it defeats us.
Here's a photo from last weekend, before the side effects made Pooch ill. He is still enjoying life, as you can see - enjoying a
chase game with me and the missus. Which motivates us to keep trying and not to give up!
Keep going Pooch! You can do it!

Ev, not sure that I understand the skin condition that Pooch has - but Cino has terrible allergies that results in ear infections and her biting her feet. https://www.zoetisus.com/bmst-minisite-apoquel/index.aspx - Apolquel has been a miracle drug for her - it stops the itching. Not sure if it would help Pooch. This is a drug similar to steroids, but has less side effects. I am sorry that Pooch is sick.

Lovely to see him enjoying the game Ev... and so glad it was just a reaction
and not the end of the line for our little friend.
