29th January 2015

Dad: Thanks so much for the kind messages of support when I described our dilemma over Pooch's
health the other day. The missus and I much appreciated them.
After much thought, we have decided that we are not ready to give up on Pooch yet. We feel he is
still enjoying life - playing with his toys, eating well etc. We don't feel he is ready to go to
his final sleep yet, no matter what the vet thinks. Pooch is scared of the surgery so the vet doesn't
see him at his best. He doesn't see him at home - relaxed and happy.
So we're going to try the drug treatment. We know there could be side effects, and that the treatment
might not even work. We're going to try, and we'll see where it goes.
Rest assured that our little dog, whom we adore and whom it has been our privilege
to share with our PBase friends through photos for many years now, will not be allowed to suffer.
We'll be keeping a close eye on his quality of life.
His welfare is our absolute priority, so when it's time to let him go - we will.

An old saying Pooch, keep taking the tablets, you will let Dad know when the time comes.

We were told a similar tale - but we saw Max still chasing a frisbee on occasion, eating well, enjoying his short stroll every day. Yes, he slept a lot - so do many of us!
We are all rooting for Pooch, hopefully the meds will give him some relief.
Very best wishes to the three of you.

Beautiful portrait of one of Pbase's favorite canines!
We're all pulling for Pooch and pray that the meds do the job. Hugs to you all!

The best course for you to take definitely, we'll all be thinking of you & hope you can
keep us in the picture. Hugs to you both and a big lick from Flossie..

I have no doubt that his welfare is your top concern. Good luck to you, the missus, and to the beloved Pooch.

If there is one thing we all know, Pooch has always come first with you both...I knew you would not give up and will give our dear little friend every care you can. Please keep us up to date...you three have been a big part of our lives for a long time and we hope it stays that way.
Hugs all round,
Laine

I know you are both sensitive to Pooch's medical needs and have always made sure he was comfortable and happy. Hopefully the medication will work. Fingers are crossed. Best of luck to you all.

Pooch is a well loved dog and I bet you and your wife are equally loved by Pooch. I hope medication helps him out. You will know when the time comes. It is something we all dread and I wish you peace in making your decision.

I'm sure you know Pooch far better than any vet and you know what's best for him. If he's still happy let him enjoy himself.

I read these updates with tears in my eyes. Pooch has earned a place in the hearts of so many Pbasers and we wish him well.
