A detail of the 'pointy bit' at the top of the building.
The Deep has become one of the iconic buildings of the new, regenerated Hull. It was designed by Sir Terry Farrell and was completed in 2002.
It stands on the site previously occupied by the Citadel, a fortress originally constructed on the orders of King Henry VIII in the
mid-16th century and demolished in 1863. See this link for further information: http://www.yorkshirehistory.com/citadel/index.htm .
