Comte de Chambord 2010

I counted at least 45 buds on our Comte de Chambord rose bush this morning - seems it liked the recent spell of rain!
Can't wait for them to open - the scent on a warm summer evening is going to be terrific.
I wish we could get rid of the black bugs though - can't use pesticides because of the pooch.

I'm with Christine and Coleen on this. A very dilute soapy/oil mix will get rid of the bugs. Lovely buds, such pretty pink!

Don't use pesticides here either, Ev...squish or ignore. Look forward to seeing them full blown!!

Beautiful buds. I'm sure the blossoms will look very pretty.

Gorgeous shot of CdC! Just squish them between finger and thumb - we don't use insecticides either - we like to encourage all the little predators & get a good eco system going.

Swish up some soapy water from a mild bar soap with a few drops of cooking oil in it and spray. Works wonders.

Bbeautiful! Our climbing rose was decimated by the rain - the buds had just opened.
Aphids etc - my Dad used to spray the flowers and veg with very dilute detergent; a tablespoon to a couple of litres...
