Normally photography inside Durham Cathedral, which dates from the 11th century, is strictly forbidden. But to mark the flower festival,
non-commercial photography was temporarily allowed in return for buying a permit at a cost of £5.
Durham Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is considered to be one of the best examples of Norman architecture in Britain.
There is no charge for admission, but donations are encouraged. ;-)
