While Darrin's road race car is carbureted it has quite a complicated fuel
system. Firstly it has two fuel systems, one runs from the regular gas tank.
the second runs from the small fuel tank seen here in the trunk in the foreground.
This second tank is filled with 118 octane racing fuel, the regular tank 92
octane pump gas. When maximum power is required such as when the nitrous system
is armed, the car seamlessly switches over to the high octane fuel, a different
ignition timing curve optimized for this fuel and the nitrous oxide is brought
up to optimum operating temperature and the bottle valve opened a the flick of
a single switch thanks to a unique control box.... it even shuts it all off and
closes the nitrous bottle when you turn off the car.... just in case you forget.
