Venus transits of the sun occurred in 2004 and 2012; the next one will happen in 2117. On June 5, 2012, Venus was still in front of the sun at sunset, as seen during the 6 minutes of this video. The site was carefully chosen the previous day to have the sun the set behind the saguaro cactus.
